Advice requested!
For once! I usually don't always ask for advice.
My lovely little monster Vivian turns two next month, and I kinda need the crib for Gigantor. Add to that the fact that she has been making eyes at big kid beds...It's time for the change. I plan on purchasing a twin bed since the toddler beds are a scam.
Sooo...I want some advice on moving to a big kid bed.
As well, the two will need to share a room soon, likely when Vivian is 25 months and Rosalyn 6 months. Any suggestions for that? I KNOW it will suck at first...
THANKS!

I found that a bed and boxspring with no bedframe and a childgate on the open door works best... no worries about roll off's or sleepwalking and my son can jump up and down like a monkey with no major injuries (wink).... I also involved him in every aspect of buying the bed... and let him pick out the sheets set... big boy this and big boy that... and practically had a party when he woke up every morning for the first week! He loves his bed to peices... but we did the family bed thing prior- never used a crib... but I don't think it's too too different.
Viv is in a crib, and Ros in the playpen-hence the urgency. How old was your son? I've FINALLY got Vivian saying "OK" instead of "NONONONONO" when I mention the big kid bed to her. The only problem with the open door is that her room is on the main floor off the kitchen, as we haven't had the money to renovate the loft....
I'm so NOT looking forward to this. But she'll lay on our futon like a big girl. I'm sure she's so SICK of hearing "big girl"
Thanks KK!
Do you remember me at all? I remember you! Ha ha!
My guy started at 2... but it takes a bit. Maybe start with naps? I still put him to bed in my bed- then remind him that when he falls asleep I'll move him and see him when the "sun comes up". Gooooood Luck!!!!!!
I put all my kids in big beds as soon as they were tall enough to climb out of the crib -- I was paranoid about their falling and getting hurt. It's not awful, just different.
With my oldest, I went to a twin bed and it was fine. The second, we had a toddler bed until he was about 5, then a twin. My youngest had a crib that converts to a toddler bed, a twin or a full. I went first with the toddler, then twin. I really liked the toddler beds cuz there was more floor space to play in, but the twin was fine too.
We went to a toddler bed at 2, with the matress really low to the floor, so less to fall. It took another 6months before he would leave the bed by himself.
Let us know how you got on.
well, apparently a mates bed is on it's way, which is basically a platform about a foot up...she's used to futons, so this should be ok....
that's next month-sept/Oct for the room sharing, which I'm sure will SUCK. PLUS, potty training is starting soon,,
